Home for a Year

While we were eating lunch today Michael looked down at his watch and said, "Hey I have been home from Iraq for a year today." Well I think that is worth celebrating. I continue to be so thankful that God protected him while he was there. Here are a few pictures from his time there.

PBS Kids in the Park

We went to PBS Kids in the Park this morning and it was a good family outing. We met the Manning family there and as you can see Brayden and Cora loved hanging out together. There were several characters from PBS there so we got to meet Super Why and Wonder Red. Cora and Brayden were so excited about meeting them they could hardly contain themselves. It was great! They had several other booths with face painting, balloon animals, games, and bounce houses. What a fun morning!

The Long Amusement Park

My girlfriends and I are going on a road trip next week for a conference in Atlanta and we needed to get together and discuss all of the details. So we went to Kathy's house this morning. You remember that friend when you were little that had all the cool toys. Well this is the Long family. I swear it was an amusement park in the back yard. In addition to the HUGE water slide they also have a bounce house. We ate lunch together (Kathy is famous for her chicken salad! Yummy!) and just talked all morning while the kids played and played and played. As you can tell they never got bored and more than one child was not very happy when we had to go home to take naps. Can we come back soon please??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Summer Fun

One of the best things about the summer is meeting up at one of the many parks here in town with some friends. We all get out and well I think that we can all agree that it is always more fun to play with your friends rather than playing with mom or by yourself. We packed a lunch and had a great day of fun. Cora Mae and Brayden both were both so proud of themselves because today they both did the monkey bars by themselves for the first time. Way to go!

Happy Birthday Allison!

One of Cora Mae's good friends, Allison, had her birthday this week and Cora Mae was so excited about the party. We got the invitation about two weeks ago and just about everyday until the party I was asked, "Is today the day we are going to to Alli's party?" All of Cora's friends from school were there and she was so happy to see each of them. If you are a mom or dad you can see where the party was. Yes Chuck E Cheese. I can feel all of the sympathy that you are feeling for me right now. We spent 2 1/2 hours there and yes it was everything that you can imagine it was. But the girls had such a good time and since they had not seen each other for a while they were talking non stop. Happy Birthday Allison!

Lemon Meringue Pie

We celebrated Father's Day on Monday night because Sunday Michael was working. He got to pick the menu for dinner and he asked for Turkey/cranberry Wreath which is really easy but it is one of his favorite things that I make (Thank you Pampered Chef). His favorite dessert is Lemon Meringue Pie. So I attempted to make my very first Lemon Meringue Pie. I know I should have been making them for a while if they are his favorite but anyway this was the first time I ever tried. I even made homemade pie crust. It was good. I was very proud of myself. Take a good look I am not sure that it will happen again. Thanks Michael for being such a wonderful dad and partner. I love watching you with our girls and how much they love you. You love the little things with them and you appreciate each and every milestone no matter how little. I love you!

Oh The Emotion!

Big Girl Dentist Appointment

Cora Mae and I had dentist appointments a few days ago. She has always done very well but this time she was really great. She is such a big girl and even had her first set of x-rays. We practiced opening our mouths up really big. I think that she has that part under control. I went first and I felt so sorry for the lady cleaning my teeth because Cora Mae talked non stop the entire time I was in the chair. She told her about every person in our lives. No cavities. Yeah Cora!

Evening with friends

As I have said before I have some wonderful friends. Sometimes when our husbands are out of town we will often get together and eat dinner together. Well my friend, Stephanie, came over the other night with Carlos and Kidist, her kids. I filled up the little pool and even though they thought that it was too small they had a great time. We love this family so much!

Graham Crackers and Dip

Cora Mae loves dip! I cannot not begin to tell you how much. She will put in on just about anything and today was no exception. After lunch I thought that I would give the girls a little "dessert." Now Honey Bee Graham crackers are not my idea of dessert but they still believe that it is. After I gave Cora Mae her cookies I tried to take away her plate with her left over ranch on it. She just about flipped out. There was no crying but the thought of me rinsing off her precious ranch dressing was just about more than she could take. "Please mommy don't throw it away I am going to dip my honey bees into it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" What?! OK Cora I hope you enjoy.

New Neighbors????

We have been playing outside with two little girls that live across the street. Their parents have lived there longer than we have but Cora insists that they are our new neighbors. You would think that she had never seen them before in her life. Anyway they invited us over to enjoy their pool and eat dinner with them last night and we had a wonderful time. It has been so hot here lately and the water felt great.

Sweet Molly

Is this little girl not the sweetest thing that you have ever seen? She always makes me smile. She gives the best hugs and kisses. They are now closed mouth kisses and that makes me a little sad. There is nothing better than a baby coming at you with an open mouth kiss. You never know what you are going to get. Lately she will run into the kitchen while I am cooking and hug my leg and say "Aahhh" then go back to whatever she was doing. My Sweet Girl! So you can imagine my surprise when on Sunday her Sunday School Teacher informed me that she punched another girl in the face. What?!!!! You need to start praying for this little one now. She may not make it.
